Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Frightened Rabbit (w/ Craig Finn)
originally by Elton John & Kiki Dee
I’d like to bring this back to everyone’s attention. Thank you.
Beginning our evening of Brendan Benson tunes here and now to celebrate the release of his newest- What Kind of World (which drops tomorrow)- I present to you for your listening enjoyment a cover of Graham Nash’s “Better Days” from his 1971 solo release Songs for Beginners. See if you can really tell that it’s Brendan and not Graham.
What Kind of World is pretty great after one listen-through. It’s not going to change the world, but it’s a damn solid 1970’s FM-sounding pop-rock and roll record. Benson’s done it again, kids: made another disc of songs that, had he not released them on the same day as his compatriot Jack White’s new album, would be a much-lauded collection of cleverly written, expertly arranged, and heartfully performed tunes. I wish him the best of luck with them.
When great bands cover great bands:
Mumford and Sons singing that ol’ OCMS tune, “Wagon Wheel”

Just What I Needed by Punch Brothers
originally by The Cars
YUUUUUUP. GET DOWN NOW.
Watching this the other day with a buddy from work, we both decided that this has no place being so good. There’s no way The Cars should work as a bluegrass tune; but leave it to The Punch Bros to pull it together though, right?
CHRIS THILE IS THE BEST.
